December 28, 2023 Update: Online Fire Agate Buyer Protections
Your curiosity is encouraged.
We are extending our Online Opal Buyer Protections Program to include fire agate jewelry and loose fire agate stones purchased through our online platform.  These items can now be returned for a full cash back refund, less any modification or custom commission costs, return shipping, and payment processing fees, within 14 days of tracking information being marked delivered.  The fire agate item must be returned in original, unused condition.  Many are not familiar with this little-known gemstone; we hope to change that, risk free to our community.

July 16, 2022 Update: Online Opal Buyer Protections Program
Take the gamble out of buying opal online.
Opal jewelry, loose opal, and opal specimens purchased with us online can now be returned for a full cash back refund, less any modification costs, return shipping, and payment processing fees within 14 days of tracking information being marked delivered.  The opal item must be returned in original, unused condition.  We do our very best to portray photographs as accurately as possible- and we more than encourage you to find out for yourself, risk free.

As of October 15, 2022:
We have a 30-day store credit only return policy for items ordered online.  You have 30 days after the shipped item is marked delivered to request a return for the full amount spent payable in store credit, less modification costs and return shipping.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn/unused.  We reserve the right to make this determination.  Items covered by Online Opal Buyer Protections cannot be returned for both store credit and cash back.  Only one can be chosen.

To start a return, you can contact us at burtonsgemsandopals@gmail.com. If your return is accepted, we will provide instructions coordinating how and where to send your package.  Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.  Items ordered online can be also be returned in-store.  We are not responsible for return shipping charges.

Exceptions / Non-Returnable Items

Vintage, Antique, and Estate Items
All vintage, antique, and estate items are sold "as is."  Though we do our best to ensure these pieces are safe to be enjoyed, they may have wear.  Please refer to photos and product descriptions before making your purchase.

Orders Lost in Transit
We are not responsible for orders that are lost in transit.  In the rare event of a lost order, please contact us so that we can assist you in beginning the shipping insurance claims process.  The claims process is handled by us and follow the guidelines set by our shipping insurance partner, Shipsurance.  After a claim is successfully awarded, we will refund your order.

Store Credit
Store credit accumulated via online returns can be spent both in-store and online.  To spend store credit from online returns toward other pieces listed online, please email us, and we will be happy to assist with arranging your new order.  Store credit can be used on a wide variety of items and services in our store including gems, antiques, crystals, jewelry repair, and custom jewelry work.  Few exceptions include coins, precious metal bullion, and items noted with, "This item can only be purchased online." in their product description.  These 'online only' items are handled on a case-by-case basis.
