Ametrine is a single stone that contains both purple amethyst and yellow citrine.  In some stones, the two colors mesh together and can be difficult to distinguish apart from one another; in many, the colors are perfectly partitioned and vivid.  This is made possible due to ametrine, citrine, and amethyst all being members of the quartz family.

Because ametrine is quartz, material is durable and ranks 7 on the Mohs hardness scale.  Ametrine makes great rings and is easy to clean with soap and water at home.  Chemical jewelry cleaners are safe to use on ametrine jewelry.
