About Apatite:

Apatite is a mineral that can come in a variety of colors, including blue, green, violet, pink, yellow, white, colorless, and brown.  While stones can come in any shade of these colors, faceted gems are typically vivid and well-saturated.  Apatite colors often mimic those of more valuable stones, such as the rare "Paraiba tourmaline," lending some explanation to the Greek name "apatein," which means "to deceive" or "to be misleading."

Apatite's attractive price point as a gem can mainly be attributed to its Mohs hardness ranking of 5.  It is a stone that should only be worn in rings for dress, as everyday wear will eventually be noticed.  Stones are safest when set in pendants and earrings.  We suggest cleaning apatite jewelry with mild soap and water.
